At the heart of my music teaching practice is a belief that music is for everyone. I'm dedicated to nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-expression through personalized music lessons that meet each student where they are. Rooted in the vibrant Guelph community. I offer a welcoming space for learners of all ages and levels to explore their musical path at their own pace, with encouragement, compassion, and joy. Neurodivergent and concussion recovery students warmly welcome.
My journey with music began at the age of 3, when I started formal training in classical piano. What began as childhood curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion and career. By age 17, I was teaching piano, and soon after, performing in bands and serving as a church organist in Mississauga for many years. These early experiences shaped not only my musical foundation but also my deep appreciation for how music connects us - within ourselves and with each other.
I studied piano and composition privately with world-renowned composer Larysa Kuzmenko, whose mentorship refined my musicianship and profoundly influences my approach to teaching. From her, I learned that great teaching goes beyond curriculum - it requires patience, adaptability, and deep listening. I carry this forward in every lesson I offer, tailoring instruction to meet each student where they are, rather than forcing them to fit a rigid schedule or system.
I had the privilege of studying classical guitar with Dr. Patrick Feely, a leading performer, educator, and researcher. His depth of musical knowledge and refined approach to technique, tone and interpretation had a profound impact on my development as both a musician and a teacher.
Studying with him not only deepened my understanding of classical guitar, but also enriched the way I approach all of my teaching - bringing more nuance, musicality, and intention to every lesson.
I am a certified sound therapist from the Globe Institute of Sound and Consciousness, a leading school in the field of vibrational healing. My background includes extensive study in vocal toning, energy work, and therapeutic sound as well as years of hands-on experience facilitating one-on-one sessions and group sound journeys. I am also a certified yoga instructor specializing in posture correction and strengthening, and a certified meditation instructor. You can visit my energy healing site at www.bodyofsound.ca
I've had the pleasure of teaching at a variety of music schools over the years. At Merriam Music in Oakville, I taught both private and group piano lessons in a vibrant, performance-focused environment. At Carswell Studios in Mississauga, I offered piano and voice coaching while also supporting day-to-day school operations. At Octave Music in Guelph, I taught piano, voice, guitar and ukulele, and worked as the school administrator and store manager, helping to create a welcoming and well-organized learning space for students and families.
I teach piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, and sound therapy to students of all ages offering both in-person and online platforms. Whether a student is preparing for performances, competitions, or exams - or simply seeking the joy of music for personal growth - I provide a supportive space for growth, creativity, and confidence-building.
Above all, I believe music should be a meaningful and enjoyable experience. My goal is to guide each student in discovering their unique sound, nurturing both skill and self-expression along the way.
